2026 Summer Reading Program


We are so excited for our Summer Reading Program here at the Willmar Public Library!
Our theme this year is Plant a Seed, Read! It will run from June 1 through August 21,
and there will be programs for patrons of all ages. Read and attend events to earn prizes!
We will have a number of special events for children, teens, and adults throughout the summer
to keep everyone engaged in reading, learning, and staying active.
The more you read and participate, the better your chances are to earn one of our grand prizes!

Career Workshop with Central
Minnesota Jobs & Training Services

Tuesday, May 19 | 6:00 – 8:00 pm
in the Multipurpose Room
Join us as we partner with Karly from Central Minnesota
Jobs & Training Services to present to you a free
career workshop for teens and young adults.
The workshop is open to people 14 to 24 who are looking for guidance on careers and employment skills.
The topic for May is applications and resumes.
Attendees will learn how to accurately and completely fill out applications and create an eye catching resume.

Crafter Dark


Wednesday, May 27th at 6 pm
in the Multipurpose Room 
Bring whatever craft you are currently working on and socialize with other crafters!
Snacks and drinks will be provided.

 

 

WPL Junk Journal Night Club


Thursday, May 28th at 5:30 pm
in the Multipurpose Room 
Meet bi-monthly on the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm.
The library will provide supplies, but you are welcome to bring your own,
or any themed items you have for your projects as well.

 

Classic Movie Night


Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30 pm
in the Multipurpose Room 
Popcorn, snacks, and drinks will be provided!

 

 

Wool Painting Class with Suzanne Fairchild


Wednesday, June 3rd at 1 pm
in the Multipurpose Room

This program will teach participants how to paint with wool!
We ask that patrons pre-register for this program by following this link.
This program was paid in part or in full by a Legacy Amendment grant.

 

 

Cozy Book Club


Tuesday, June 9th at 5:30 pm
in the Multipurpose Room 
During Cozy Book Club, participants can come and go at any time! Curated for those who want low-stress socialization,
all are encouraged to bring the book they are currently reading and even a blanket, cushion, or pillow!
If a patron just wants to come to read with others and not talk before or after, we welcome them to!
Snacks and drinks will be provided.

 

 

Preventing Fraud and Scams Presentation

Thursday, June 11th at noon
in the Multipurpose Room 

Every year, millions of people are targeted by scammers.
These criminals try to trick people into giving them money, personal information, or access to their bank accounts.
Understanding common scams and knowing what to look out for can help you stay safe.
Senior Linkage Line will be giving a presentation on how to protect yourself from common scams.

Books not your thing? Remember, you can use your library card to check out any items available in our catalog including:

Willmar Public Library Makerspace

Register here to use our Makerspace equipment. Equipment must be used in the library and consumable materials are not supplied.
Makerspace users must agree to the
Makerspace Policy and complete training on safety and equipment use. Reservations required.

Access the Seed Library in the Willmar Public Library during regular hours.

Set up a half hour to an hour long, one-on-one appointment with a librarian.
